Georgetown Glow 2018
I am working on a proposal for Georgetown Glow 2018. This site is currently hosting the portfolio to support the proposal.
Georgetown Glow is a fun, festive, and cheerful event that has been taking place in December-January for the past several years. It consists of multiple outdoor light installations, sprinkled throughout the Georgetown neighborhood of Washington, DC.
In late 2017, a drawing group I participate in (The Tuesday Night Group), which meets at Klagsbrun Studios in the Book Hill part of Georgetown, thought it would be fun to participate in Georgetown Glow. It was well past the proposal application time frame, so we decided to do something unofficial right in front of the studio. The following was the result:
This 20 foot tall figure was dubbed the "Radiant Rainbow Racer." It appeared as if the figure was running up the hill through the trees along Wisconsin Avenue. We had a lot of fun putting it together and got great response from neighbors and passers-by (and on its Instagram account).
For 2018, we are proposing to do something similar, but with a couple of improvements (including interactivity). Stay tuned!
